A Piece of Cloth is a vintage and antique textiles sourcing business. Established in 2009 by graphic and textile designer Jennifer Twitchett. After working in the Australian fashion industry for 15 years as a textile and graphic designer for some of Australia's leading brands, Jennifer embarked on her passion for original textiles.

She stashed her first piece when she was 13 and grew up at the hem of her society dress maker grandmother. Combined with her love of travel her personal textile collection and vintage surface design archive has amassed from there. Jennifer now travels the world to find interesting and unique textiles. Her main love is antique and vintage fabrics and patchwork quilts from the United States, a country she now calls her second home.
Each one of the textiles stocked is hand selected on Jennifer's international buying trips based on the uniqueness and strength of the print. The studio specializes in pre 1960s printed cottons. Jennifer believes in quality not quantity, and as such, many of the textiles are in very limited supply. Jennifer makes these available via this website and traveling Trunk Shows and select events.
The studio has an extensive selection of vintage and antique patchwork quilt tops, feed sacks, blocks, patchwork quilts, cutters and fabrics to suit the needs of quilters interested in vintage patchwork and quilting, restoration or just owning a piece of the past.
You can also book the studio 'trunk show' or Jennifer for your event, show or retreat. A vibrant and engaging public speaker Jennifer will take you on a journey of vintage fabrics, quilts, travel and the occasional mishap. Loosely titled 'My Dog Ate My Finger and Other Adventures of A Life with Fabric'
With a move to a farm in country Victoria, the studio will be offering workshops in 2017.
Jennifer started Hound-Tees when she wanted something practical and easy care for her hounds. Her big boy Fritz was the perfect fit model and after measuring up lots of other hounds created her size set and designed her pattern for the Hound-Tee. A perfect pull over style with an innovative single armhole, easy on and off and no bunching between the 'Hoob'. And best of all you can pop the Hound-Tee in the wash just like a hooman tee. The range is expanding to cover long sleeves, skivvy styles, slim line long johns, loose fit PJ's and soon deluxe ultra light top coats.
For every Hound-Tee ordered another Tee or a Fleecy Sleep Coat is donated to Gumtree Greys or other Welfare groups. The last donation of 36 coats went to Geelong Animal Welfare. If you are a rescue group get in touch to go on the donation list.
Feel free to contact the studio for more information or make a time to discuss your project needs.
